Christmas Time is Here

Friday, December 24th, 2010

December brings cold weather, snow, and the most exciting time of year. The entire year we wait for two days in December that are more exciting than any other time, holiday speaking, that is: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Today is Christmas Eve. Shopping for presents is finished; holiday baking–finished (at least as much as I plan on doing); house decorated; tree set up and decorated; now all that’s left to do is sit back and enjoy the two days.

Of course, visiting family that you only see a couple of times a year is on the agenda. That’s what we have to do today.

There is something magical about this time of year. But I have noticed that over the course of my life, the magic seems to be lessening as I grow older. People don’t seem as cheerful or awe-struck with the season. Could it be that apathy plays a big part in this lack of magic?

Either way, I am going to enjoy the next two days with my loved ones, i.e., my husband and two sons.

To those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays for whichever holiday you choose. May everyone have a great December and Happy New Year.
